Visualead

Visualead is a cool site that I just found out about for creating visual QR codes.  This is done by uploading an image, cropping what part of that image you want to turn into a QR code, add a link, and click generate.  QR codes are fun to do w/ students for an engaging activity that can use a wide variety of mobile devices.

Tips for CS/CA

The task itself is actually not too bad and gives you ample places to prove what you know, from getting user entry to working out a suitable way to store the values in variables (HashMap perhaps vs a lot of variables for each combination…). I also like the extension activity of getting the total number of occurrences of symbols throughout the words - This is the basis for a basic cipher text attack and with the correct english language letter distribution tables (http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/frequency.php).

I think so long as you know how to display text, get input from the user and can work out a rudimental form of loop to handle the “menu” system as such (add pairing, delete pairing etc) then you will be fine…

There are a few different approaches to the rest of the tasks but keep going.

New and improved Blogger mobile apps

Inspiration for a new post can happen at any place and time: on the couch, while shopping, at a game, or in the kitchen. Fortunately, mobile devices enable you to stay connected wherever you are.

With that in mind, Blogger have just launched updated apps for both Android and iOS. The updated apps include a visual facelift and other features which make it easier for you to create and share -- wherever your imagination runs wild. Some of the more notable improvements include:

  • Landscape support for composing posts
  • Sharing to Google+
  • Ability to view a scheduled post time
  • International support in 30+ languages
  • iPad support

We hope you enjoy these improvements, and keep writing great blog content on the go.

Get Blogger in the Play store to get the latest on your Android phone or the App Store for iOS devices.

Flow Charts

What is a Flowchart?

A Flowchart is a graphical illustration of the steps and decisions in a rule or procedure. Flowcharts are used to visually represent the structure of information and show relationships between the steps in the rule or procedure. They literally describe a "chain of events" that should occur, including any major decision points along the way.

Below is an example of a Flowchart for rules and procedures
The example Flowchart above presents the major steps and decision points for checking the oil in a car. The steps appear in boxes and are numbered to make them easy to identify. The decision point ("Is Oil Line Correct?") is contained in a diamond. The arrow going from step 7 to step 3 indicates that part of the procedure must be repeated if the oil line is not correct.
