This project focuses on the launch of a new game of your choice. The game must be based on the theme of heroes and villains. It may be any type of game such as a board game, a computer game or an online role playing game. 



You will choose the target audience and name of the game. 



You will design this set of graphic products for the game: 

two 3D characters 

wallpaper for a mobile phone 

three trading cards 

a box for the trading cards 

a digital poster. 


Folder & Eportfolio Structure

You need to ensure you save all the work you do in the correct folders.
You must exhibit your graphic products in an eportfolio along with supporting evidence.

Elements Table

You must keep careful records of all sources you use to gather elements, both primary and secondary.
You should describe each element and any changes you make, how and where it is used in the product(s) and details of the permission required for its use.

Design Log

You must use a design log to record the design process as you develop your products.

3D Characters


Two character designs will be printed on special cereal packs so they can be cut out and assembled to make 3D freestanding characters.
You must produce designs for two 3D characters, one hero and one villain.



 Produce a design for each character. 
Each design must:

  • only use elements from primary sources
  • be created using only vector tools
  • be a single net that folds to make the character
  • fit on one sheet of A4
  • include fold and cut lines, and areas to be glued
  • include clear instructions on how each character should be assembled.

 Produce photographs showing your finished characters from different angles. To do this, you must print your designs in colour, cut them out and assemble them.




Phone Wallpaper



Wallpaper will be free to download on to mobile phones.
You must produce the wallpaper for your chosen game.


 Produce the mobile phone wallpaper.

It must:
  • be created using only graphic tools to edit and combine elements
  • include a photograph of each 3D character
  • be an appropriate size and resolution for a mobile phone screen.

Trading Cards



A set of 42 trading cards will be used to promote the game.
You must design three of the cards: one for your hero, one for your villain, plus one additional card.
The design on the back will be the same for each card.


Trading Cards Box



You must design a box to hold and display a complete set of 42 trading cards. 


 Draw a net for the box.

It must:
  • be created using only vector tools
  • show the scale and dimensions

 Complete the box design by adding a surface design.

The surface design must:
  • be created using bitmap tools
  • include visual links to your characters and the trading cards.

 Produce photographs showing your finished box from different angles. To do this, you must print your design in colour and assemble it.

Digital Poster



You must produce a digital poster to promote the trading cards and mobile phone wallpaper.


 Use this design sheet to plan the digital poster on paper.
 Produce the digital poster on computer using suitable software
It must:
  • be created using only graphic tools to edit and combine elements
  • use only elements from primary sources
  • include the name of the game
  • include images of the trading cards and the wallpaper in use
  • include text to promote the products.

Review



You must carry out a review of your final products.

Ask end-of-project reviewers to evaluate the products.

The review must include:
  • an evaluation of each of your products
  • consideration of feedback from end-of-project reviewers
  • valid suggestions for improvement.
